The nearest Amtrak service is the "Empire Builder" about 90 minutes away at Columbus WI; 15 miles east of Madison on US 151, with one trip daily westbound to Minneapolis/St. Paul and Seattle, and eastbound to Chicago. Passengers can also access the "Empire Builder" or one of seven daily round trips between Milwaukee and Chicago on the AMTRAK "Hiawatha" at either the downtown Milwaukee Intermodal Transportation Center, Mitchell International Airport, or Sturtevant (Racine). Bus service is also available from Janesville to Union Station in Chicago by Van Galder/Coach USA under Amtrak's "Thruway" bus service program.
