Conveniently located on the beaches of Lake Koshkonong, Paddle Hut offers premium paddle and water sport equipment rentals, serving the experienced paddlers as well as the beginner.
Lake Koshkonong and Rock River Basin provides an ideal playground for water sport enthusiasts and has long been one of Southern Wisconsin’s best kept secrets. Sprawled across southern Wisconsin, just a few miles down the Rock River from Fort Atkinson, Lake Koshkonong is a fantastic place to boat and fish. The lake has a rich history, plentiful wildlife and thousands of acres of beautiful water to draw visitors from all over.
Formed by the construction of the Indian ford Dam in 1846, Lake Koshkonong is a large shallow lake with a maximum depth of only seven feet. It is an impoundment of the Rock River which makes up both the inflow and outflow of the lake. The lake stretches across parts of Dane, Jefferson, and Rock Counties in southern Wisconsin.

Renting from Paddle Hut is easy, fun and creates an enjoyable day wherever you choose to paddle
1. Call ahead: 608 449-8087 or book online
To ensure availability of desired equipment.
2. Choose Your Time
Kayak or canoes available by the hour, half day, or all day.
3. Choose Your Rental
Choose single or tandem sit-in kayaks and sit-on-top kayaks, canoes, stand up paddle boards, paddle boat, fishing kayak and water bikes. Our fleet is continuously updated and equipped with Wilderness System and Current Designs kayaks, Wenonah canoes and NSP stand up boards. Those familiar with paddle sports know these names as the finest available. We have the largest rental fleet in the area.
4. Choose Your Launch Point
You're welcome to launch your rented kayak on the beach right outside of our beach front location and explore either Lake Koshkonong or Rock River, or take the rented equipment off site using your own vehicle and explore the many other beautiful waterways in the area.
Reservations for offsite rentals must be made 1 week in advance to assure availability, longer in July and August. Before a boat leaves the Paddle Hut, we must have a signed waiver from all persons who will be paddling our boats
.
** Requirements for Off-site Rentals:
• All persons paddling our boats off the lake must have taken kayaking lessons, including rescue techniques, and have the ability to handle safely all paddling conditions.
• Good, substantial car racks, like Yakima, Thule, Quick N Easy, or bolted-on racks on camper shells are necessary. Factory racks, the back of pickup trucks, on top of cars/shells without racks, are not strong enough for sea kayaks. We have some racks available for rent w/boats. We cannot fit all cars- call to see if we can fit your car!
• Renters are responsible for full replacement value of any equipment damaged or lost!

We welcome groups, clubs, and all organizations. We will work with your group on fundraising events per request. Call for discounts on groups of 8 or more. We are happy to work with you!

Seasonal Passes
• Here is an opportunity for frequent paddlers to reduce rental costs, get regular exercise and learn a lot about different kayaks. Season pass holders pay an up-front fee and paddle our kayaks on Lake Koshkonong and Rock River during our regular hours of operation. The pass is valid for single or tandem kayaks and can be used as often as you’d like within these parameters: May 15 – Sept 15, Monday – Friday, no weekends or holidays.
• Passes are available at the Paddle Hut for $149.95 plus tax, good for the complete season.
Summer Fit
• An innovative fitness program geared with the outdoor enthusiast mind. For $59.95 a member can have unlimited use of Sara’s Health & Fitness facility and equipment, which is located in Edgerton, WI at 121 Henry Street. (608) 884-9728. As well as, unlimited use of any paddle sport rentals from Paddle Hut Monday - Friday.
