Free & Low Cost Events


Here is just a sample of the abundance of low or no cost activities and events offered this summer in the Janesville area.

A great opportunity in the free category is the Historic Walking Tour series. Upcoming tours scheduled: 

Thursday, July 29 Evening Photo Walk of Court House Hill. Meet in Jefferson Park at 6:30 pm.

Saturday, August 14: Fourth Ward and Monterey. Meet in Fourth Ward Park, Racine Street at 9 am.

Sunday, August 29: Sunday Afternoon Nostalgia Tour of Downtown. Meet at the Amphitheater in Lower Court House Park at 1 pm.

Saturday, September 25: Bungalows of Benton Avenue. Meet in Prairie Park (Prairie Avenue at Blaine Avenue) at 9 am.

Saturday, October 16: Autumn Stroll through Court House Hill. Meet at the Wisconsin Street Parking Lot in Upper Court House Park at 9 am.

Additional free events include the Main Street Entertainment series. These concerts take place at Lower Courthouse Park and begin at 7:00 pm. Performers include Jack Farina's Big Band on July 13th and Bel Cats on July 20th. The Kids Noontime Entertainment Series takes place at Palmer Park on the Camden stage with KG and the Ranger on July 15th and Heatwave on July 22nd .

The Rock Aqua Jays Water Ski Shows also fall into our free or low cost category. Although they do accept donations, there is no charge to see the show. Shows take place Sundays and Wednesdays through

September 6th at Traxler Park. Shows begin at 7 pm in through July and move to 6:30 pm in August and September.

The exhibits at the Helen Jeffris Wood museum Center are also open to the public free of charge daily from 9 am to 4 pm. Permanent exhibits include the Parker Pen Room, Pauline Pottery exhibit, and the George Kemp Tallman Gun Collection.

To wrap up your free summer activities be sure to include a trip to Rotary Botanical Gardens. The first Wednesday of every month is free admission day and a chance to enjoy the beauty of the Gardens at no cost.
