Even after leaving Janesville by train more than 153 years ago, Abraham Lincoln returns, this time on the big screen.
Steven Spielberg’s long awaited epic, Lincoln, debuts across Rock County on Friday, November 16th. Abraham Lincoln, portrayed by actor Daniel Day-Lewis is examined over the last months of his presidency, as his critical choices for shaping America after the Civil War will change the fate for generations to come.
To celebrate this recent portrayal of Rock County’s most famous visitor, the Rock County Historical Society invites the public to attend a discussion session about the film in the lower gallery of the Helen Jeffris Wood Museum Center. Event attendees are encouraged to see the film prior to attending the event.
The discussion will be led by Val Crofts, a history teacher at Milton High School. The event is free and open to the public, with refreshments for sale throughout the discussion. Lincoln movie trivia will be included as part of the event, with the chance to win a variety of “historical memorabilia”.
All event donations further the mission of enriching and engaging the communities of Rock County, Wisconsin through the preservation and dissemination of the unique history and heritage of our area.
