Day One

Horicon, WI

Our first stop of the day will be at Horicon Marsh Boat Tours, located in Horicon…City on the Marsh! Nestled at the southern end of the Horicon Marsh, where it narrows to become the Rock River, the city of Horicon offers a friendly small town atmosphere to please any visitor.

Spring, summer and fall the marsh is a hive of activity as all its inhabitants go about their daily activities. We will explore the largest freshwater cattail marsh in the U.S. with one of the oldest and best Marsh Tour Operators - the Zuelsdorf Family!  Started in 1963, by Marc’s Father, Gayl, Marc, & their three children entertain & educate hundreds of groups every year and look forward to welcoming your groups in the future.   * The Market Specialty Shopping Mall & Upper Crust

Built in the mid-1870’s, this former lumberyard is now a village unto itself, reminiscent of a charming European streetscape. First we will experience lunch at one of the area’s favorite restaurants - The Upper Crust! Everything is excellent - but you might want to start with dessert! Next, we will have time to explore some of the thriving specialty shops where we might see artists and artisans demonstrating their traditional crafts and take home a treasure or two to remember our tour!

 

*The Octagon House Museum/First Kindergarten

The Octagon House Museum, an eight-sided architectural masterpiece, features 57 rooms of period furnishings. This five story home, built in 1854, was one of the largest single family  homes built prior to the Civil War. On the same grounds, we will also visit the First Kindergarten in the United States.

Fort Atkinson, WI

With the Rock River running through the historic downtown, the scenic beauty and numerous entertainment attractions make Fort Atkinson one of Wisconsin’s premiere motorcoach destinations. We will explore Fort Atkinson on a City Tour and see the town where “historic sites meet Broadway lights!”

  * Hoard Historical Museum & National Dairy Shrine

Within the walls of this intriguing small town museum is a treasure trove of Woodland Indian artifacts, agricultural tools and the Lincoln Era Room with an impressive Civil War library. Also, no tour to the ‘Dairy State’ would be complete without visiting the National Dairy Shrine. We will discover the sights & sounds of dairy farming past & present in this multi-media tour.

Janesville is truly Wisconsin’s Park Place; with over 2,000 acres of parkland, 25 miles of hiking/biking trails, 13 area golf courses, and a 20-acre internationally themed garden.

MacFarlane Pheasant Farm is one of the world’s largest private game bird farms, providing hunting birds for Prince Charles. Our step-on guide will give us a tour of the grounds and you might even take home some of their exotic meats & unique condiments if you choose

 * Home of Miracle, The White Buffalo

We will visit where ‘Miracle’, the white buffalo, was born at the Heider farm and hear the fascinating legend surrounding her birth. Miracle was born in August of 1994 and is extremely important in the religious beliefs of many American Indian tribes. You may also purchase Bison meat.

  * Lincoln-Tallman House

From the domestic areas in the basement, elegant drawing rooms, bedrooms, and dining rooms, to the servants' quarters, attic and cupola, the Lincoln-Tallman House reflects the lifestyle of the wealthy in the mid 19th Century. Significant as the only private residence in Wisconsin where Abraham Lincoln slept, the Lincoln-Tallman House is a highlight of any trip.

This three and a half million square foot complex is the largest GM plant under one roof in the United States. This tour showcases over 600 robots on the sport utility line and allows you to see first hand the state of the art automation used to put the quality GM vehicles on the road

* Rotary Gardens

Rotary Gardens is a 15-acre botanical garden showcasing a variety of internationally themed and specialty gardens. Rotary Gardens is dedicated to international peace and friendship signified by the 20-foot sculpture at the garden entrance. The gardens have something for everyone and serve as an educational resource and renowned horticultural showcase. Their unique gift shop in the visitor's center offers gifts for all ages and tastes.

DAY THREE

 

Beloit, WI

Situated on the banks of the Rock River and on the Illinois/ Wisconsin Stateline, Beloit is literally the ‘city on the way’ and the gateway to Wisconsin. Rich in breathtaking scenery, Beloit is home to first-class attractions, as well as one of the top Wisconsin motorcoach destinations, The Angel Museum and is the perfect first or last stop (or both) on your Roamin’ Round the Rock River Tour!

We will take a journey through time where history & entertainment meet at this one-of-a-kind auto attraction. No matter if you are a car buff or not, you are sure to be amazed at this collection of history. You will relive your childhood - no matter your age as you walk through TV Land, Days of Yesteryear, World Leaders, Gangsters, Legends of Racing, and more. Relive the day President Kennedy was shot. See the ambulance that Lee Harvey Oswald was transported in and Hitler’s Staff Car. There is so much to see, you will have to plan another trip to experience it all!

 * Williams Tree Farm

Reclaim your youth as a horse drawn trolley takes us back in time to long ago. We will explore one of the nation’s largest cut your own Christmas Tree Farms and learn its’ history - it is quite a story. During October - December, tours can see wreath-making demonstrations, taste some homemade fudge, sample the chili or other great food at the café or take home a special memory from their Christmas gift shop. Refreshments (included in cost of tour) will be served in the café & gift barn after your trolley ride.

There is nothing quite like sipping lemonade by the old Millpond at Wisconsin’s oldest working gristmills. Beckman Mill was built in 1868 and restored to its 1920’s condition. Complete with newly reconstructed dam, fish ladder, walking covered bridge, and flower garden, Beckman Mill is truly a one of a kind treasure!

* The Angel Museum & Taste of Heaven Café

No tour of Wisconsin or Roamin’ Round the Rock River would be complete without restoring your soul at the world famous Angel Museum and one of Wisconsin’s top motorcoach destinations! With more than 7,500 angels on display, the museum is considered the largest privately held angel collection in the United States, possibly the world, and also includes over 500 angels donated from Oprah Winfrey's private collection.  

After our tour, we will enjoy heavenly cuisine in the Taste of Heaven Café. Make sure to save time to browse in the Heavenly Treasures Gift Shop and take home a ‘little piece of heaven’ as a remembrance of our time Roamin’ Round the Rock together!
