Lincoln Tallman House
at Rock County Historical Society

You group's personalized tour of Janesville’s award-winning historic house museum includes all five levels from the basement where food is stored to the cupola where the the servants hang the laundry to dry. Each level is restored to it's 1857 splendor and is completed with furnishings belonging to the Tallman family. The Tallman house had five family members and two servants, which were brother and sister.  This 26 room Italianate villa style mansion is the only private home still in existence that can boast Abraham Lincoln as an overnight guest.  Learn the story of Lincoln's extra night's stay during his 1859 visit. The original cost of the home was $33,000 in gold.
