1. Art Infusion

2023 will not only bring another year of talented artists to Janesville but also new plaques added to the beautiful murals completed in 2022 during Art Infusion. These plaques will feature mural names along with a QR code that redirects to a voice recording of the artist describing the mural and the inspiration that led to the finished work of art.

2. Rotary Botanical Gardens Construction

Rotary Botanical Gardens has received approval from the city to move ahead with plans for a brand new 900 sq. ft. building to house restrooms and a concession stand during the annual Holiday Light Show, an event that draws thousands of people to Janesville. The whimsical fairytale design is an earth-sheltered building with a projecting two-story tower to be located in the northeast area of the Gardens. The entire project has been funded by an anonymous donor, and is expected to break ground later this year.

3. Skelly’s Farm Market Construction

In October of last year, Skelly’s Farm Market announced their expansion plans for 2023. The new temperature-regulated addition onto the existing barn will result in a larger bakery and retail space, more bathrooms, and a separate serving area and outdoor walk-up windows. The hope is to debut the renovated building to the public once they open for their regular season in late May.

4. Comedy Cabin

A brand new entertainment space has opened up in Janesville this month. Comedy Cabin is hosting live comedy shows with cabaret-style seating and a full bar. Advance ticket purchase is recommended either by calling or through their website.

5. Rock River Heritage County Park

The Janesville area’s family of parks grew by 172 acres with the addition of Rock River Heritage Park located just north of Janesville along the banks of the Rock River. Park improvements are continuing and a grand opening will be announced in the springtime. The park will be a destination for hiking, camping, fishing, and so much more.

6. 100 Things to Do in Wisconsin Before You Die

Dannelle Gay aka “The Traveling Cheesehead” is coming out with her newest book this spring called 100 Things to Do in Wisconsin Before You Die. The book will be available on March 15, but you can pre-order now! Janesville will be featured in this comprehensive guide to all the must-see, must-taste, and must-do activities in Wisconsin.

7. Gin Blossoms at JPAC

Janesville Performing Arts Center recently announced they will be hosting the Gin Blossoms at their annual Gala Concert on May 6. Tickets range between $65-$85 for the general public, and are on sale now.

8. Timber Hill Winery Construction

Timber Hill Winery in Milton is currently building a brand new expansion about one mile away that will include its first on-site vineyard to grow their own grapes right in Milton. Eventually, the tasting room, retail area, and production space will all be housed under one roof in this building. The construction officially broke ground at the end of August in 2022, and the new building is expected to be open to the public in June.

9. Papa Docs Axe Throwing

Papa Docs Axe Throwing officially opened in December of 2022, but we’re including it on this list because most people will be able to try it for the first time in 2023! Channel your inner lumberjack at this super fun projected game located in downtown Janesville. Lane reservations can be made right on their website.
