Barn quilts are painted quilt blocks mounted on a barn or other building. Rock County is home to over 200 barn quilts scattered thoughtout the countryside. They range from small 2 foot squares on garages to 8 foot blocks on barns. The Rock County Barn Quilt Project goals include promoting rural heritage, highlighting the architecture and history of barns in the county and educating the public about the art and history of quilting. Contact the Janesville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau for a map of barn quilt locations throughout the county, or click here to visit the Evansville city website where you can download the Evansville Barn Quilts brochure with map.
