The Janesville Transit System (JTS) offers regular bus service Monday through Saturday on six routes inside Janesville, with the Beloit-Janesville Express operating weekdays between the two cities. Regular cash fare within the city is $1.75, while other rates may apply for travel to other locations or for seniors, students or disabled persons. Discounted token packs and passes are available. "Dial-A-Ride" paratransit van service is available for persons with disabilities who are unable to use regular buses. Route maps are available at the JTS website, and print maps can be found in over 90 locations in Janesville, including most banks, grocery and convenience stores.
All local JTS routes run through the Downtown Transfer Center, allowing a rider to catch a bus to nearly any part of Janesville or to Beloit on the Beloit-Janesville Express. The downtown location is close to many businesses, shops and places of interest. The Transfer Center has comfortable benches, covered loading bays for all buses, a climate controlled waiting room, vending machines, a change machine, restroom facilities, and a pleasant view of the Rock River.
JTS buses are equipped with bike racks that can hold up to two bikes, available on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no extra charge.
