Learn how Janesville and C&NW Railroad grew together in the 135 years since the railroad's arrival. William B. Ogden planned to make Janesville his headquarters when he built his Chicago, St. Paul, and Fond du Lac railroad from Chicago into central Wisconsin. He did much fundraising to build that line in and around Janesville. That plan was altered in 1859 when the new Chicago and North Western railroad took over the Fond du Lac line after the Panic of 1857. Nevertheless, Janesville would still play a large role in the financial success of the C&NW in the following 135 years. Presented by Craig Pfannkuche, archivist for the C&NW Historical Society. Part of Northern Rock County's America 250 celebration.
