The American Civil War marked a defining chapter in the nation’s history, and the Battle of Gettysburg (July 1–3, 1863) is widely viewed as its turning point. Wisconsin troops, particularly those in the famed Iron Brigade, played a vital role during the battle’s opening day. Their steadfast defense helped secure the position until the remainder of the Army of the Potomac could reach the field. Join the Milton House Museum at Good Works Brewing for this Hops and History guest speaker series featuring Jerry Hunter, a scholar of the Iron Brigade. Jerry will be talking about the Iron Brigade on the first day of the Battle of Gettysburg and some stories of local soldiers and their fates. Jerry will also be bringing in several reproduction weapons and other historic artifacts of the period for guests to view.
