This talk will explore the history and current state of Women's and Gender Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Starting in 1972, Women's and Gender Studies has pushed for the inclusion of women's voices in academic curriculum for more than 50 years at UWW. Currently, UWW students experience an education rooted in intersectionality, developing key skill sets for a more inclusive future and opportunities to learn about women of color, LGBTQ+ communities, and inclusive advocacy skills to shape their communities and future workplaces. Presented by Ashley Barnes-Gilbert, Assistant Professor, Women’s and Gender Studies as part of the Our Stories, Our Future spring Cedar Crest Lecture Series.
