Downtown Janesville will be filled with excitement for the Janesville Town Square Gran Prix, the sixth leg of the Tour of America's Dairyland Series, presented by Blain's Farm and Fleet. Bicycle criterium racing has been compared to human powered NASCAR on two wheels. Racers will enjoy a course that not only showcases Janesville's scenic location and interesting architecture, but also gives a glimpse of our downtown's renaissance through the ARISE project. This year, paracyclists will also compete in a 35 minute hand cycle race. Downtown restaurants and pubs will have plenty of food and drink specials to satisfy every appetite, and Festival Street will be home to many food trucks. Families can enjoy a kid’s area focused on healthy and interactive fun. The Rock River runs through the race site and provides a beautiful backdrop for race events. You can watch the event around the entire perimeter of the course. To see the competitors pass slowly, watch from an incline. Like to see the bikes scream past? Set up on one of the downhills. There are a number of turns on the dog bone shaped course, which provides an exciting view of tight cornering. Photos courtesy of Marsha Mood.
