Freedom Fest began as a backyard BBQ in 2002 and has developed into one of the largest community events in the Janesville, Wisconsin area with an estimated 25,000 to 30,000 attendees. Expect great attractions, delicious food and excellent stage performances featuring Blanca and Austin French. There is no admission fee - parking, rides, the concert and fireworks are all free. They even try to keep affordable food options, but you can also bring in your own food. The Day of Compassion has grown to become a regular part of Freedom Fest and from 11 AM to 2 PM (or while supplies last), free services include health services, haircuts, clothing giveaway, veterans services, and bags of groceries will be distributed, as well as a back to school component where students will receive a backpack loaded with school supplies. There is a children's area with things like a corn crib, face painting, balloon animals and jump houses. There are carnival rides for the more adventurous and stage entertainment for those who just want to relax. And, of course, at the end of the night is an incredible fireworks display.
