Wisconsin Historical Society marker #271 is only accessible while traveling east/south on I-39/I-90 from Madison and Edgerton toward Janesville, as it is in Rest Area 17. This marker explains the impact the Rock River had on industry as it provided an early source of power for manufacturing.
