Gloria the Eagle is created from sculpted and welded steel by local artist Richard Lazcano, encouraged by his employer United Alloy through their Dream Generators program. She is positioned to look down upon the Rock River that winds through the downtown, and near a Bald Eagle nest that has transfixed the public for several years. Each of Gloria's feathers is individually detailed and welded. Perched atop a steel tree limb on a base of Niagara Dolomite rocks, her patina and size mirror a real bald eagle. The sculpture lives in the bio-retention area near the Bubbler in the Janesville Town Square, thanks to the generosity and vision of the Bob and Nancy Kimball family.
