Created by Detroit, Michigan artist Rick Malt during Art Infusion 2022, this striking abstract mural incorporates the Rock River, one of the draws to the first settlers in the area. The lone tree at the upper left represents a log cabin, the first permanent structure built here. The combination of element blends Janesville history with Rick's signature style, and represents progression, setting goals and always moving forward.

A self-taught artist working in both aerosol and acrylic painting techniques, Rick explores themes of nature across a broad body of work. From large scale murals and installations to intimate studio work, he focuses on the juxtapositions posed by nature - life/death, growth/decay, strength/weakness. Rick's career as an artist began with his passion for skateboarding, graffiti, and music. Influenced by the bold lines of graffiti and skateboard graphics, he re-imagines natural landscapes and the characters that inhabit them, building from bold backdrops to create other-worldly scenes.
